Eclipse 1000hr Elliptical Trainer

You'll be hard pressed to find a more complete elliptical trainer for the money than the Eclipse 1000hr (note: there are two Eclipse 1000 models. The 1000 and the 1000hr).

The 1000hr is superior to the 1000. The 1000 costs about $349 and the 1000hr runs about $399. What do you get for the extra money?

  • magnetic resistance (as opposed to manual)
  • heart rate control
  • 12 programs (none on the 1000)

The only reason I would not recommend the Eclipse 1000hr elliptical trainer is the relatively short stride length of 6 inches. This is not a huge drawback, as most elliptical trainers under $1000 have the same stride length.

The only elliptical I researched in this price range with a longer stride length is the Proform 700 Elliptical. You can click the previous link to see my head to head comparison of the Eclipse 1000HR vs. Proform 700s.

The link below will bring you to MegaFitness. They carry the Eclipse 1000hr but sell out frequently. Their price is also the lowest I have found and includes free shipping.

Their website says it's the 1000, but it really is the 1000hr with the built-in pulse sensor.
