Bodycraft Xpress Gym Review

The Bodycraft Xpress home gym is one of two home gyms in my reviews that utilize free range of motion handles to perform your exercises, the other gym is the Body Solid Cable Action gym which has been discontinued.

The Xpress gym has been the most popular Bodycraft model because of its' unique design and compact dimensions that make it a good fit for most home gyms.

What sets the Xpress apart from other home gyms is the ability to perform an exercise without the limitations placed on your body by traditional machines has its' advantages.

The cables and handles on the Xpress let you simulate free weights and perform sport specific movements with great ease and efficiency.

Key specs on the Bodycraft Xpress gym:

  • Dimensions: 82.9" deep x 56.5 " wide x 83" tall (85.45" wide x 90.5 deep with optional leg press)
  • 200 lbs. weight stack in 10 lb. increments. Precision milled cast iron plates with nylon bushings for smooth action
  • Heavy 2" X 2" and 2" X 3", 11 and 12 gauge steel tubing frame
  • Flexible nylon coated, 7X 19 strand aircraft cable rated at over 2000 lbs. tensile strength
  • Internally lubricated bearings
  • Included accessories: Lat Pull Bar, Curl Bar, Ankle Strap and two Single Handles are included
  • Lifetime warranty

To help you understand some of the benefits of the Xpress instead of bombarding you with a bunch more specs, let me describe the key functions of the gym.

The Bodycraft Xpress is a highly versatile gym that allows you to adjust each part of the seat to get into the correct alignment to perform exercises efficiently.

The bench press station has an adjustable starting point that allows different size users to workout comfortably, and the seat and seat back are fully adjustable with a built in tilt feature to ensure full support of your body for each exercise.

The bench press station also has what Bodycraft calls, "doubling cable" which increases the resistance to a 2:1 ratio, providing for up to a 400 pound bench press (pretty impressive).

One of the best (and unique) adjustable features on the Xpress gym are the cable station arms.

Each arm has an separate cable (w/ swivel handle) and is able to raise and lower up to 160 degrees to perform a full array of 'free weight mimicking' exercises, without the danger and expense of having a full set of dumbbells.

To round out the rest of the Bodycraft Xpress, here is what you get:

  • Ab crunch station for abdominal training
  • Fold the footplate down for abductor and adductor
leg kicks, arm curls, and upright rows
  • Self-aligning leg extension and curl station provides seated leg extension and standing leg curl and automatically adjusts to fit all leg sizes
  • High pulley station for lat pull downs, and triceps push downs
  • Space saving design allows placement against a wall
  • Optional leg press attachment for full leg development

The Bodycraft Xpress gym is a very good value for the money and will make a great addition to any home gym, and especially so for those who want to get all the benefits of free weights, without the risks.
