Parabody
Smith Machine
What
do I think about the Parabody Smith Machine? I think it's
a great machine that is hard to beat for the money.
In
fact I like the Parabody smith so much I bought one myself,
and use it as the centerpiece of my home gym.
The
Parabody is a 7 degree smith machine that is highly versatile
with a integrated 200 pound lat tower weight stack with
high and low pulleys, 6 built-in Olympic weight holders,
and a 14 point gun rack and safety catch on the front on
the machine.
The
reason I bought the Parabody is two fold - number one, the
Parabody is relatively affordable when compared to other
linear bearing smith machines (linear bearings are 10 times
better than bushings) and number two, the design of the
Parabody smith is ideal with its 7 degree carriage design
and its front mounted gun rack with safety catches.
With
a smith machine like this, you don't have to make a compromise
when it comes to strength training, as you have the best
of both worlds in one machine.
Here's
a picture of my Parabody smith machine in my basement...

My
Parabody Smith Machine
Like
I mentioned in my review of the Hoist Smith Machine, the
one thing I changed out on the Parabody where the attachments
- the Parabody attachments like the lat bar and short bar
are the non-swivel variety that I'm not a fan of - I replaced
them with the thicker and lighter Hoist aluminum attachments
that are much better (but also about $130 more expensive).
Like
the Hoist Smith machine, the only downside to the Parabody
Smith Machine is the price, and the fact that it's only
available through local dealers.
