Bowflex Series 5 Treadmill Review

The Bowflex Series 5 Treadmill falls in the middle of the Bowflex treadmill lineup which also features the Bowflex Series 3 Treadmill and the Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill.

Where I wasn't the biggest fan of the Bowflex Series 3 Treadmill for various reasons, the Bowflex Series 5 Treadmill does a number of things right right out of the box.

The most notable upgrade to the series 3 is the larger more powerful motor (2.5 hp of the series 5 - 1.75 hp on the series 3).

Considering the fact that the series 3 and series 5 are near identical treadmills in the frame, treadbelt and deck area, I don't see how you could even consider getting the series 3 with the under powered motor, as the series 5 performs like it should (that's with a 42% increase in motor power!)

Key features of the Bowflex Series 5 Treadmill:

  • Folding system for easy storage with the SoftDrop declining position
  • 20" x 60" live running area w/ a 1-ply belt
  • 2.5 HP Continuous Motor
  • 4 window LED display w/ 6 workout programs
  • Strike Zone™ deck cushioning
  • 12 programs, including 1 HRC, 2 user-defined

Another key upgrade the Bowflex Series 5 Treadmill offers is a large and spacious 20" x 60" live running area which is among the largest treadbelts on any treadmill I've reviewed.

The series 5 also offers more built-in workout programs including one heart rate controlled (but you have to use the hand grips to check your pulse which isn't accurate or convenient in my opinion) and the quick speed and incline keys to change your workout settings at the touch of a button (nice touch that saves time and hassles).

Like the Bowflex Series 3 Treadmill the Series 5 offers a long warranty which is: 10 years on the motor, 15 years on the frame, 2 years on parts and 1 year labor.

I think the Bowflex Series 5 Treadmill is a nice offering from Bowflex and a vast improvement over the series 3, but I'd invest a couple hundred more in the Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill...
